The origins: a shirtmaking company built to last

Everything begins with a shirt — of course. But not the one we imagine today. That is precisely the point.

Confezioni Gallia was founded as a company specialized in the production of nightshirts: simple garments, yet ones that already required care, precision and attention to fit. This was the role of the shirt back in 1958, at a time when few could have imagined how profoundly it would evolve in the decades to come in Italy.

From there, the transition to elegant shirts was both a courageous step and a natural one. The same attention once devoted to garments for rest was transformed into tailoring discipline, refined finishes, clean lines and made-to-measure construction.

Our workshop soon became a reference point for those seeking quality in classic shirtmaking. And, as often happens in Made in Italy craftsmanship, excellence does not go unnoticed. The first major international maisons began to take interest in our work.

The leap forward: when craftsmanship meets the trust of major brands

Our tailoring approach, our ability to handle complex cuts, our sensitivity in fabric selection — these are the qualities that attracted the attention of leading international brands.

Luxury maisons began entrusting us with special projects: unconventional shirts, experimental capsule collections, high-end productions requiring exceptional craftsmanship. Our role evolved alongside these requests. We were no longer just a workshop, but a trusted extension of our clients’ style departments.

It was during this phase that we fully understood the importance of combining artisanal know-how with a production structure capable of meeting industrial demands.

This marked the beginning of a profound transformation — the first step toward the international reality we are today.

The turning point: when vision leads change

When the founding ownership decided to step aside, leadership naturally passed to two key figures within the company: the administrative director and the production director. Two complementary perspectives, united by a shared goal — to transform Confezioni Gallia into a benchmark for third-party shirtmaking, while staying true to its roots and values and looking firmly toward the future.

Their approach was decisive. They removed what was no longer essential and invested in what truly mattered.

People, production systems and client relationships were placed at the center. Challenges were inevitable, but they were met with determination and confidence in the strategic choices being made.

It was during these years that we gradually stepped away from made-to-measure production for the end customer, choosing instead to dedicate ourselves entirely to brands. A bold and far from obvious decision, one that required both courage and foresight.

Consolidation: industrial expertise, loyalty to Made in Italy

We chose to remain firmly rooted in Italy, even as much of the fashion industry pursued delocalization in search of immediate economic gains.

Perhaps we lost ground in the short term. But we knew exactly what we were doing. We chose to invest in new technologies, even when quicker profits might have been easier to achieve.

We chose to train our internal teams, to control quality at every level, and to care for details — even those that remain unseen.

And this choice rewarded us.

As the market shifted and grew more unstable, we became a point of reference for those seeking continuity, reliability and manufacturing excellence.

With every collection, our industrial expertise expanded: the ability to manage small runs and large productions alike, samples and complex lines, with the same consistency.

Confezioni Gallia: from workshop to brand

At a certain point, the desire to experiment pushed us further.

We felt the need to express our know-how through a personal project. This led to the creation of Gallia — a proprietary brand through which we challenged ourselves as both designers and producers.

Gallia shirts — and later knitwear as well — were well received for their quality, understated yet confident style, and coherence between form and substance.

This success encouraged us to give the project its own independent identity.

Thus Almalia was born: a parallel, autonomous venture dedicated to developing a proprietary line with a strong identity and a contemporary outlook.

Today, Almalia lives at almalia.it, driven by the same principles that have always defined us: quality, authenticity and vision.

Today: industrial tailoring in service of luxury maisons

Today, strengthened by the experience of a unique journey we look back on with pride, we are ready for a new step forward. Our company has always carried the ambition of great enterprises and the determination never to settle for past achievements.

We have chosen to focus all our energy on the continued growth of Confezioni Gallia, with the goal of becoming a reference point in sartorial shirtmaking for major luxury brands.

Not only shirts. We support maisons in the development of complex, experimental, high-end collections, offering:

  • third-party sampling services;
  • advanced pattern making and technical support;
  • in-house quality control and garment construction;
  • integrated management of sartorial production;
  • long-term production consistency across multiple seasons.

Every garment leaving our workshop is the result of a precise process — both sartorial and industrial.
